Last weekend I was invited to celebrate Yours Truly's 1 Year Anniversary party. Yours Truly is quite possibly NYC's premier Women's boutique, located in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn. This was only my 2nd time visiting the shop but everyone made me feel right at home. They had a Cinco De Mayo kegger/BBQ going on with good music, great people, style, graffiti... what else could you possibly ask for? By the way, their backyard graffiti set-up is easily 1 of the trillest out here. I've been finding myself in the midst of many NYC adventures since I moved back in January. There's always something to do, and even when it's nothing too crazy I always end up having way too much fun (ask my liver and my lungs smh). This was 1 of those nights. A special friend of mine was celebrating her birthday at WIP with a couple of friends, so I invited my friends and we were all friends for the night. WIP, by the way, is quite possibly NYC's greatest new underground venue. Especially for the craziness that ensues in such an artistic and intimate setting. We had our own table, courtesy of our host; Quinn (ALIEN, Mishka, etc). Made friends with some cute bunnies on this night, and let me tell you that there were A LOT of beautiful women here. But despite an issue that occurred at the venue, I can say that all of the people I was with had a very interesting drunk story to tell the next day. I'm still at a loss for words (scroll below for coverage). Grande Marshall opened the show for ASAP Rocky, and with rightful cause! The homie has a mini-catalog of dope tracks to perform and 2012 JUST started. This show was quite possibly, the best rap concert I've ever attended in Philly. No hypebeast. The crowd was a perfect balance between the young & rowdy cool kids in the moshpit to the laid back OG's outchea smoke'n blunts. Philly, Jersey, Delaware, MD, and NYC was in the building, HEAVY! It's been a long 2 months so far, but the TRILLADELPHIA movement is moving! Last week during my trip back to NY, I participated in a seasonal photoshoot orchestrated by Long Island's very own, premier sneaker/streetwear boutique, Extra Butter! If you're not familiar with these folks by now, well then you're just losing! They always provide amazing photoshoots with each collection they have in-store, literally, and this time is no different. Instead of doing individual shoots for each brand, they bridged them all together with die-hard supporters, fans & familiar faces in the streetwear scene as their models. They have some great brands like 10 Deep, Mishka & Amongst Friends in-store and this is what the photoshoot showcases. Below are my shots from the shoot, but you can view the whole lookbook HERE. With the store fully stocked with a variety of looks and styles from our favorite brands, we had no choice but to provide you with an inside look at the best of what this season has to offer. Philadelphia takes pride in being one of the largest resource for art in the US and the mural arts program is an excellent example of that by showing what Philadelphia has to offer with outstanding visuals in every area of the city. About 100 murals are put up in the city every year done by artists from many diverse backgrounds leaving every area untouched. This month mark's Mural Arts Month to celebrate Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program. In honor of that, I've compiled a few photos of murals I stumble on frequently around Philadelphia. Starting off with the mural below, which can be found on the corner of 20th and Arch going towards the Franklin Institute or Logan Square. Philadelphia Mural Arts - 20th and Arch Street If you ever drive down South Broad from Center City a lot, you can't miss this mural on Broad and Lombard in the parking lot of a Subway. Philadelphia Mural Arts This mural resides in a parking lot across from Fiso's Lounge near 15th and South. It is dedicated to famous Philadelphian billiard player, Edward "Chick" Davis. Philadelphia Mural Arts - Edward Chick Davis Right over on Broad and Reed St, in the parking lot of a funeral home, is a mural of Philadelphia opera singer and actor Mario Lanza. Philadelphia Mural Arts - Mario Lanza All my buddies live on Dickinson St in South Philly, so I frequent this mural near the 1600 block of Dickinson a lot. I've shot this mural of Frank Sinatra about three months ago, one of the most outstanding murals in Philadelphia that resides on Broad and Wharton in South Philly aside a 4-story building which was created in 1999. Over the past few months I've watched construction on the side of the building go from a 1-story to a 3-story residential cover up. It's somewhat upsetting that all you can see now is Sinatra's cap and the only explanation from the owner of the lot: "I need to build this house. It's legal." Plenty of locals are upset about it, but with this economy you're bound to lose a few murals in the process. Philadelphia Mural Arts - Frank Sinatra One of my favorite murals is behind a Rite Aid on Broad and Christian. It's not as serious as the rest and has an imaginative and playful feel. Reminds me of a Philly version of Where the Wild Things Are. Philadelphia Mural Arts - Christian Street I have no knowledge of this mural except that I pass it a lot going to my local Shop Rite. It's spans about half a block long. Philadelphia Mural Arts - Shop Rite near Columbus Blvd and Snyder Ave Even Chinatown has a few murals in place. Philadelphia Mural Arts - Chinatown A mural in the parking lot of Save-a-Lot on 13th and Washington in South Philly. When you're in South Philly you'll see how multi-cultural it is when it comes to the people and this particular area is a heavy mix of asian folks. Philadelphia takes pride in being one of the largest resource for art in the US and the mural arts program is an excellent example of that by showing what Philadelphia has to offer with outstanding visuals in every area of the city. About 100 murals are put up in the city every year done by artists from many diverse backgrounds leaving every area untouched. This month mark's Mural Arts Month to celebrate Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program. In honor of that, I've compiled a few photos of murals I stumble on frequently around Philadelphia. Starting off with the mural below, which can be found on the corner of 20th and Arch going towards the Franklin Institute or Logan Square. Philadelphia Mural Arts - 20th and Arch Street If you ever drive down South Broad from Center City a lot, you can't miss this mural on Broad and Lombard in the parking lot of a Subway. Philadelphia Mural Arts This mural resides in a parking lot across from Fiso's Lounge near 15th and South. It is dedicated to famous Philadelphian billiard player, Edward "Chick" Davis. Philadelphia Mural Arts - Edward Chick Davis Right over on Broad and Reed St, in the parking lot of a funeral home, is a mural of Philadelphia opera singer and actor Mario Lanza. I had to make a seperate post for these set of pictures. These were taken the same night as the Sex On The Beach party. There was a weird turn of events here, and I don't know how it happened but our fellow ANML; Aja (@_ItsCrazy) kept falling getting pushed in the kiddie pool. Boat loads of water, angry cleavage, and an epic ambush by AnmlHse's own Jimmy Bear (@AnmlHse_Bear) can be viewed below! "Ohh nooo, please nooo, no please don't" *Kevin Hart voice*   The beginning of the end LMAO Andddd now she's ready for WAR For some odd reason, she's going after an innocent bystander.
