Avid readers of the AnmlHse blog should already be familiar with Grande Marshall, but here's a nice compilation video for those who aren't up on game yet! These visuals were shot at Brooklyn's very own Southpaw (which is closing it's doors in February *tears*), during BarrelHouseBKLYN's "Locals Only" artist showcase. Last week during my trip back to NY, I participated in a seasonal photoshoot orchestrated by Long Island's very own, premier sneaker/streetwear boutique, Extra Butter! If you're not familiar with these folks by now, well then you're just losing! They always provide amazing photoshoots with each collection they have in-store, literally, and this time is no different. Instead of doing individual shoots for each brand, they bridged them all together with die-hard supporters, fans & familiar faces in the streetwear scene as their models. They have some great brands like 10 Deep, Mishka & Amongst Friends in-store and this is what the photoshoot showcases. Below are my shots from the shoot, but you can view the whole lookbook HERE. With the store fully stocked with a variety of looks and styles from our favorite brands, we had no choice but to provide you with an inside look at the best of what this season has to offer. Thus, I introduce to you the “Official Selections” Fall 2011 lookbook. You can thank us later. If you aren't familiar with PandaRadio, here's a bit of background as to what it's about. I love music. But more so, I love the culture and the vibe within artists that create the music. The drive and determination inspires me. I also have an eerie knack for being ahead of the curve when it comes to underground music. Almost every single artist I've ever featured are artists that not only I believe in, but artists that personally catch my attention and deserve a chance of being heard. New music gets premiered every day, on a number of blogs. And sometimes, certain artists might get overlooked. The whole purpose of this mix is to put a bit of a spotlight on the underground stuff that normal everyday people would never give the attention. It's almost been 2 months since my last PandaRadio playlist, but in no way has the music stopped. People have been asking when the next one will drop, and very soon might I add. We'll be showcasing some of our latest designs, and some very special limited re-releases. Come get your hands on early samples of our next Collection! Artist Showcase: Speak Brooch by Mr. Washington

Today's "Artist Showcase" is all about a specific product, designed entirely by designer, Brandon Washington aka Mr. Washington. I used to see these brooches everywhere, never really knowing who was behind them. Low and behold, I find out a fellow Art School major that I knew mutually was responsible for them! I love the simplicity of it, channeling the inner Rolling Stones logo and a bit of Andy Warhol, this iconic piece can be worn for any occasion; male or female and they come in a variety of colorways. Read below for a brief description on what the piece means, and what it's all about.

The Speak Brooch is a piece that snickers at consumerism and the hype of mainstream products and trends. It is a light-hearted piece that is not afraid to poke fun at itself, considering its contradictory nature. Speak is the voice that says we are all consumers who often fall victim to hype, and it is sometimes good to give into your desires. Speak is made from aluminum and felt, then laser cut and etched into the hand drawn mouth shape. - Mr. Washington

Intentionally designed to to mock a hyped product, various colors paired with aluminum creates the “shiny-new-object effect.” Felt is used for its tendency to become worn and faded like trends, aluminum, of course, for its shiny property. - Mr. Washington

Before "streetwear" was popular, and still in it's pre-adolescent stages, there were very few brands that were new and just as innovative as the OG brands. Before Mishka, before ONLY NY, there was A.L.I.E.N. NYC; the 1 and true urban streetwear brand that kept it strictly for the creative, open-minded and innovative street kids. I was fortunate enough to reach out to co-creator; Quan Luv, when AnmlHse was first starting out and surprised at the supportive and driven nature of the brand as a whole. Back then, way before having a clothing line was cool, we were all taking risks but always being ourselves to propel our collective further. Everybody should remember the parties at Happy Endings with Ninjasonik, the secret loft parties with Theophilus London and Electric Punanny parties at Sway with Melo-X. Not to mention the respect they earned thru all of their Art Projects, Seasonal Collections, and innovative self-expression thru Fashion & Style. This collective, in my eyes, is singlehandedly responsible for many of NYC's greatest movements. Ask anyone, who brought snapbacks back, years ago and it would be these guys. After a brief hiatus the A.L.I.E.N. collective gives the world a small preview of what to expect for 2012.
