A Saturday night well spent away from all the events I tend to get dragged into. From the City Hall marbles to the tall Rocky Steps, the long blistering walk on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway was definitely an unregrettable trip. There’s so much of Philadelphia that a lot of folks see but never really take note of. I’m a real geek when it comes to Art History and find it hard to walk around statues or even historical landmarks without taking notes. We walk everyday in a city that was literally put together by greats we only read or hear about, such as Thomas Eakins, Paul Cret, and Auguste Rodin, that we should be aware of their legacy and the works they’ve created.

City Hall Philadelphia.
A lot of theories have been speculated as to the positioning of the William Penn statue atop the building. Very hard to get a clear view of the dark figure in this shot.

Clae Oldenburg’s Clothespin.

Paul Cret Statue at base of Parkway.
Cret was a well-known architect for a lot a great works such as the Parkway, the Rodin Museum, and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

The Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
Cret was known for bringing in a lot of cultural ideas into his projects and the flags were an excellent case of that.

The Swann Fountain.
Located in Logan Circle in the dead center of the parkway.

The view above the Rocky Steps.
Located at the end of the parkway is Philadelphia’s Museum of Art, which has recently hosted exhibits like Salvador Dali, Frida, King Tut, and now the works of Paul Cezanne. Being at the top and not being able to go in to the exhibit
. Although, the view and the rest on the hard stairs was surprisingly comfortable and relaxing.

PS – My opinion, I think the Rocky Statue has earned its keeps in this city.
